About The Company Established in 1995 Chameleon Safaris was the first Namibian adventure camping company operated out of Windhoek.
The company is owned and run by Jackie Burton and Bossie Coetzer. Jackie, Australian born, has travelled independently through Asia, Europe and North, Central and Southern Africa. She fell in love with Namibia when backpacking through the country in 1991 and returned in 1994 to lead safaris, founding Chameleon Safaris within a year.
Bossie, South African born, was raised in Namibia and has also backpacked through the USA and Europe as well as travelling extensively through Southern Africa. Today Jackie is responsible for the administration, operations and client liaison. Bossie is responsible for the workshop, building and sourcing of new vehicles and troubleshooting of any on the road problems.
In recent years there has been a growing trend towards empowering previously disadvantaged persons, and in a landmark forum in 2004 the Tourism Industry adopted, in principle, a Black Economic Empowerment Charter. Chameleon Safaris Namibia have wholeheartedly committed themselves to empowering indigenous Namibians to enter and participate, on an equal basis, in the Tourism Industry. Thimbi Thimbi Adventure Safaris, run by Lucky Gaoeb (see page 20), is contracted to operate selected itineraries on behalf of Chameleon Safaris Namibia. In addition to this Chameleon has endeavoured to provide opportunities for previously disadvantaged persons who are passionate about their country and tourism to empower themselves through our Apprentice Guide Course. (see page 20)
Bossie and Jackie, with their daughters Kayla and Caitlin, operate a strong Namibian team trained to ensure your holiday/safari arrangements are handled quickly and professionally from your first email or phone call through to your after safari accommodation and transfer needs.
Chameleon is a young dynamic safari company which caters to the adventure traveller. The traveller who likes to participate in their holidays, meet the locals and enjoy the local flavour of the country they visit.
Join us on an adventure of a lifetime!!!
